Casey Kasem, the radio host who told listeners for decades to “keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars,” finished his last American Top 20 song countdown on July 6th, 2009. This audio is Kasem at his worst, but it shows a beautifully human side of him. Speaking personally here, I think that this few minutes of audio has somehow come to mind at least a twice a month since I first heard it in 2002. It’s thanks to this clip that the word “ponderous” and the phrase “good golly Ms. Molly” are part of my lexicon.
