Ella vs Moose Leg

Ella and her moose leg The moose population in the lower Kuskokwim delta region has been in decline for some time. So much so that for the last five years, moose hunting was outlawed (which naturally peeved a lot of people).
Just recently, however, they lifted the ban, as the population has come back. So naturally, we’ve been hearing lots of moose hunting stories. Consequently, I think any “scraps” from hunters cleaning their kill are whisked away by the area stray/non-stray canine cabal.
Although not able to actually move it more than a few feet, our new puppy, Ella, is at least able to nibble on this one particular moose leg. She was pretty psyched about finding it in the tundra, and like all intelligent dogs, has clearly logged its exact location (she detours to its location every chance she gets).
