The Egyptian government plans to open an underwater museum: guard smoke breaks face biggest challenge ever.

In the movie Crazy Heart, actor Jeff Bridges does an impressive job of singing country. Fallin’ & Flyin’ is arguably the best example. There are two versions of the song on the OST, and this one features the harmonies of Colin Ferrell. Fallin’ & Flyin’ was written by Stephen Bruton (RIP) and Gary Nicholson.

The original I’ve Been Lonely for So Long, performed by the B’Ham Rhythm Section, can be found on a compilation called The Burmingham Sound: the Soul of Neal Hemphill Vol. I. Lambchop’s version appears on What Another Man Spills from 1998, arguably the band’s most soulful and beautiful recording. Got Lamchop?

The City’s Fuzziest

The snow in Brooklyn was awesome.  I love a good snow, a thunderstorm, a blackout–I’d go so far as to say I take an inexplicable thrill when the temperature drops below 0 degrees F or above 100 degree F.  The snow has an added benefit of putting a physical barrier between where the children play and the rat poison.

I’ve long advocated an ecological rat control system where we deputize a contingent of cats to control the rats.  Like the Firemen, the City’s Bravest, and the Police, the City’s Finest, and the Corrections Officers, the City’s Boldest (AKA dude’s who scored worryingly low on the Cop test), this Cat Force, the City’s Furriest, could control the rat underworld.  Then the cats could be controlled by a force of Foxes, the City’s Fuzzy Tailiest.  Renegade Foxes could be kept in check by hounds and British aristocrats, the City’s Fuddy-Duddiest.  But who controls the Brits?  Dudes from Boston maybe?  Dudes from Boston could just sit happily on the top of the heap with big ruddy smiles.

Tough Guy Spotted but Unseen

A dude in Red Hook had the engine of his muscle car idling and was nowhere to be seen.  What a tough guy.  Red Hook isn’t what is used to be (I assume), but still you have to be pretty tough to leave your car idling like that.
