[audio:http://earshotpresents.com/sounds/within-earshot/vampire-song-podcast.mp3|titles=Jeff Nowlan’s Vampire Song]In 2002, I set up my friend Brad Kintzer with a minidisc recorder and mic for his trip into Mexico and Central America. Before he set out, Brad did some recording to get comfortable with the microphone. All of these minidiscs from ’02–including his pretty comprehensive audio tour of Mexico–were just rediscovered. Flashback city for Brad. Listening to one of these minidiscs in the Earshot Presents clubhouse in Oakland, CA last weekend, Brad and I were very psyched to find a version of our friend Jeff Nowlan’s legendary “Vampire Song”. We hope you enjoy it.
The Vampire Song by Jeff Nowlan
Haunted in the night
What could give you such a fright?
Teeth marks at your throat
Blood droplets on your coat
As day slips away
Close together we should pray
for evil to be gone
recapture your life before dawn
Whooooooooooooooooo
uoooooooooooooooooo
Beauty lies in death
You speak to me with your last breath
Listening through my tears
as you confess your darkest fears
A terror holds me tight
Of what is lurking in the night
Strong with crimson lips
Could steal your life with one dark kiss
[power jam]
Crew of light track him well
Century of horror will strike down
Wolfs will circle and bats will die
As you scream and you will ride
Living dead face your fate
We’ll pierce your heart with wooden stakes
Because human blood is what you crave
We’re here to send you to the grave
Vampire Song
Stalking me nightly sleak and strong
Vampire Song
Sucking my blood with incisors long
Vampire Song
Stalking me nightly sleak and strong
Vampire Song
Sucking my blood with incisors long
